The J.C. Daniel Award is an award given by the Kerala State Film Academy to a person who has made a comprehensive contribution to the field of Malayalam cinema. The award is named after J.C. Daniel, known as the father of Malayalam cinema.
Recipients are selected by an independent jury established by the Academy and the Department of Cultural Affairs. The prize money for the J.C Daniel Award is RS 5 lakh.

- T. E. Vasudevan is the first J.C. Daniel Award winner (1992).
- In 2002, K.J Yesudas received the J.C. Daniel Award
- Kerala Chalachithra Academy did not give the 2003 J.C. Daniel Award.
- Madhu, best known as an actor, director, and producer, won the J.C. Daniel Award in 2004.
- Aranmula Ponnamma was the 1st woman who received J.C Daniel Award.
- Screenwriter and director MT Vasudevan Nair won the 2013 JC Daniel Award.
- In 2016, director Adoor Gopalakrishnan and in 2018 actress and director Chila received the J.C. Daniel Award.
- Sreekumaran Thampi, a noted lyricist, director, and producer, received the 2017 J.C. Daniel Award.
- The last time director Hariharan received the J.C. Daniel Award was in 2019
